FERC allows Gulf South to place expansion for Entergy plant into service

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission authorized Gulf South Pipeline Co. LP to place its St. Charles Parish natural gas expansion project into service.

The commission in an Oct. 31 letter allowed the Boardwalk Pipelines LP subsidiary to place its $29.7 million expansion project to service, as it is found to be in compliance with FERC's set environmental conditions. The project will allow Gulf South to deliver up to 133,333 Dth/d to Entergy Louisiana LLC's gas-fired, combined-cycle electric generating plant, the St. Charles Power Station.

To feed the Entergy Corp. subsidiary's under-construction plant, Gulf South's project includes a new compressor station and related facilities in St. Charles Parish, near the intersection of Gulf South's existing Index 270 pipeline and Index 270-94 lateral. FERC issued a certificate order authorizing the project on October 2017 and was given permission to begin construction in a Jan. 9 order. (FERC docket CP16-478)
