Tencent-backed iDreamSky, Mail.ru unit teaming up to expand gaming footprint

Chinese video game publisher iDreamSky Technology Holdings Ltd. and Mail.ru Group Ltd. unit MY.GAMES are teaming up to expand their presence across the global gaming market, Reuters reported Aug. 1.

The long-term partnership will see the two companies cross-publishing games in their local markets, while working to release a game entitled "War Robot" in China that is subject to license approval.

The companies did not reveal financial details of the partnership.

IDreamSky, which is backed by Tencent Holdings Ltd., also plans to use the partnership as a venue to distribute its own games that are being developed, according to Reuters.

Mail.ru, a Russian internet company, has a joint venture on e-commerce with another Chinese company, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., for the AliExpress Russia service.
