Uniqlo on Aug. 2 said its same-store net sales in Japan increased 3.7% year over year in July due to strong sales of summer items, brought about by the hot weather.

Meanwhile, sales at directly run stores grew 1.9% year over year in July, while customer numbers increased 5.2% and average purchase per customer rate fell 3.2%.

Including online sales, total sales increased 3.3% year over year during the reported period, while customer numbers rose 5.3% and average purchase per customer rate dropped 2%.

The company said it also closed one of its directly run stores in July.
