Uniqlo on Aug. 2 said its same-store net sales in Japan increased 3.7% year over year in July due to strong sales of summer items, brought about by the hot weather.
The Fast Retailing Co. Ltd.-owned clothing company also saw same-store customer numbers rise 5.6% year over year during the month, but the average purchase per customer rate declined 1.9% from a year earlier.
Meanwhile, sales at directly run stores grew 1.9% year over year in July, while customer numbers increased 5.2% and average purchase per customer rate fell 3.2%.
Including online sales, total sales increased 3.3% year over year during the reported period, while customer numbers rose 5.3% and average purchase per customer rate dropped 2%.
The company said it also closed one of its directly run stores in July.
