BBC Worldwide to launch SVOD service

BBC WorldwideLtd. is set to introduce a new subscription video-on-demand servicenamed BBC Player in late 2016, according to an April 27 news release.

The platform will be initially available to customers ofSingaporean operator StarHub Ltd. 's StarHub TV service.

BBC Player users will be able to watch content from BBCEarth, BBC First, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies (UK), BBC World News (US) and a new channel named BBC Britthat is debuting via the platform. Several BBC shows will also be available todownload and watch offline for up to 30 days.

The service will be accessible online as well as via apps ondevices running on AppleInc.'s iOS and Alphabet Inc.-owned Google Inc.'s Android.
