Thal fiscal Q1 profit climbs 15.4% YOY

Thal Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended Sept. 30 was 4.06 Pakistani rupees per share, an increase of 15.4% from 3.52 rupees per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 329.1 million rupees, a gain of 15.4% from 285.2 million rupees in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 8.4% from 8.6% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 17.5% year over year to 3.90 billion rupees from 3.32 billion rupees, and total operating expenses climbed 19.2% year over year to 3.33 billion rupees from 2.79 billion rupees.

Reported net income increased 18.2% from the prior-year period to 382.1 million rupees, or 4.72 rupees per share, from 323.2 million rupees, or 3.99 rupees per share.

As of Oct. 24, US$1 was equivalent to 103 Pakistani rupees.
