Unicharm Corp. said Aug. 10 that it has launched an investigation related to the company's financial results from fiscal year 2014 to 2016, and that it has created an internal investigation committee to carry out the probe.
While preparing its second-quarter financial results for fiscal year 2017, the Japanese household products company said it has recognized the need to validate the appropriateness of certain periodical allocation of expenses, including items in the previous period related to Unicharm Consumer Products (China) Co. Ltd.
The four-member investigation committee includes Shigeru Asada, director and audit and supervisory committee member; Toshiro China, executive officer and general manager of the business process transformation division of the internal audit department; Masayoshi Tanizaki, general manager of the internal audit department, and Ichiro Ozawa, department manager of the legal department.
Unicharm said that the issue will not affect the outcome of its 2017 fiscal year but that it is considering extending the deadline for filing the company's quarterly securities report for the six months ended June 30 to the Kanto Local Finance Bureau.
