AdelaideResources Ltd. said April 27 that it secured a license to explorepotential lithium brine deposits in South Australia.
The license covers a portion of Lake Gilles, which spans 232square kilometers on the Eyre Peninsula. Adelaide was earlier granted lithiumexploration tenure over a portion of Lake Acraman.
While there are no previous recorded lithium explorations atboth lakes, it is believed that extensive exposures of felsic Gawler Rangevolcanic rocks in the lake catchments may serve as good sources of lithium.
Adelaide plans to conduct a preliminary sampling program todetermine the presence of lithium at elevated concentrations in the lake brinesand sediments.
The company said the lithium exploration in the two lakeareas will complement its ongoing gold explorations in the Drummond Basin and on the Eyre Peninsula.
