NetflixInc. and Polygon Pictures inked a deal to exclusively premier animeoriginal film "Blame!" in Netflix's global territories.
The future-set film, an adaptation of a manga by Tsutomu Nihei,is about Killy, a strange individual on a quest to rescue civilization from thebrink of oblivion. The streaming giant said July 24 that it intends to release"Blame!" and "Knights of Sidonia," another sci-fi animeseries, in high dynamic range format.
Separately, Netflix said that it will offer the new seasonof "Mystery Science Theater 3000" exclusively in the U.S., Canada,U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
The reboot will see original creator Joel Hodgson joined bycomedian Jonah Ray as new host and Felicia Day as Kinga Forrester, according toa July 23 news release. The production of 14 new episodes was funded by aKickstarter campaign.
