Japanese conglomerate Panasonic Corp. scaled back its business with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. after the U.S. blacklisted the Chinese communications equipment company, Reuters reported.

Japan's Toshiba Corp. also temporarily halted supplies to Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. to ensure it complied with U.S. restrictions on Huawei, the second-largest seller of smartphones in the world, but resumed partial supplies later, according to media reports.

Toshiba reviewed whether the products supplied to Huawei used any components or technology originating from the U.S., which would breach U.S. sanctions with regards to doing business with Huawei, the Nikkei Asian Review reported.

Toshiba resumed some supplies after the investigation, Reuters reported. The U.S. temporarily scaled back restrictions to allow American companies to continue doing business with Huawei through Aug. 19.
