Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Inc. intends to increase rates by an average of 7.2% for 2018, The Arizona Republic reported.

The possible elimination of a key Affordable Care Act funding source known as cost-sharing reduction payments, which are used to compensate insurance costs for low-income earners, has been cited as the major reason behind the hike, which would have been flat otherwise, the report noted, citing Jeff Stelnik, senior vice president of strategy, sales and marketing.
