Report: 'Apprentice' producer threatens to sue staffers if footage leaks

Mark Burnett, the producer of NBC's "The Apprentice" and an ally of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, threatened staffers with a lawsuit if they release outtakes of the show, BuzzFeed News reported Oct. 9, citing a person close to Burnett.

Outtakes from NBC's "Today" show that included degrading comments about women have shaken up Trump's campaign since they were leaked Oct. 7. The network suspended "Today" show host Billy Bush over his "language and behavior" in the 2005 conversation between him and Trump.

While neither Burnett nor his production company have commented on the matter, former staffers of "The Apprentice" have reportedly hinted at outtakes from that show being just as damaging.

There has been considerable public pressure on the producers of the show to release unaired, raw footage. However, the source said Burnett is pro-Trump and has told his staffers that he will sue anyone who leaks "Apprentice" footage, according to the report.
