Cempra Inc. appointed board member David Zaccardelli as acting CEO after the retirement of CEO and President Prabhavathi Fernandes, effective Dec. 12.

The company also appointed David Moore as president in addition to his position as chief commercial officer.

Fernandes will serve as a scientific consultant to the company.
