Freeman Spogli closes 8th PE fund at $1.85B

Middle-market investor Freeman Spogli Management Co. LP, also known as Freeman Spogli & Co., pulled in $1.85 billion for its eighth private equity fund at closing, reaching its hard cap.

FS Equity Partners VIII LP attracted commitments from new and existing investors, including pension funds, insurers, endowments, foundations, financial institutions and family offices.

Fund VIII will funnel $75 million to $300 million per investment, with a focus on middle-market consumer and distribution companies in North America.

Lazard was the lead placement agent, while Triago was placement agent for several investors in Europe. Ropes & Gray LLP was the legal counsel.
