Canadian auto parts manufacturer Magna International Inc. said Oct. 25 that it will acquire motion control software developer Haptronik GmBh as part of its push to dominate the mechatronics market.
Germany-based Haptronik develops algorithms that enhance motion control and the tactile aspect behind doors and liftgates, creating anti-slam and virtual door checks.
The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019, subject to standard closing conditions.
On Oct. 2, Magna formed a joint venture with engineering firm Altran Technologies SA to develop an engineering center in Morocco.
