Target to purchase power from Starwood's Texas wind farm

Target Corp.signed a contract to purchase 40 MW of wind power from Starwood Energy Group Global LLC-owned Stephens Ranch wind facility in the city of Lubbock,Texas.

The move, which marks the retailer's first wind power partnership,is intended to offset 100% of the energy used at 60 Target stores throughout Texas,according to a July 21 release.

The contract is for the first phase of the 211-MW project. Togetherwith the second phase, Stephens Ranch has a combined generating capacity of 376MW.
