Start Today said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31 amounted to ¥8.56 per share, a gain of 17.8% from ¥7.27 per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥2.77 billion, a gain of 18.2% from ¥2.35 billion in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 23.3% from 21.7% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 10.4% on an annual basis to ¥11.93 billion from ¥10.80 billion, and total operating expenses grew 6.3% on an annual basis to ¥7.50 billion from ¥7.06 billion.
Reported net income decreased 9.0% on an annual basis to ¥2.12 billion, or ¥6.54 per share, from ¥2.33 billion, or ¥7.21 per share.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled ¥29.29 per share, an increase of 21.3% from ¥24.14 per share in the prior year.
Normalized net income was ¥9.46 billion, a rise of 21.7% from ¥7.78 billion in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue increased 6.7% from the prior-year period to ¥41.18 billion from ¥38.58 billion, and total operating expenses totaled ¥26.10 billion, compared with ¥26.19 billion in the year-earlier period.
The company said reported net income grew 15.4% on an annual basis to ¥9.00 billion, or ¥27.86 per share, in the full year, from ¥7.80 billion, or ¥24.21 per share.
As of June 30, US$1 was equivalent to ¥122.43.
