Nuclear update: Total US output continues to climb as 3 more units return

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability rose again earlyMay 10 to 84.41%, up from 83.70% on May 9 and also above the 84.15% levelrecorded on the same day last year.

Supporting total availability was the return of threeunits. Southern Co.'sJoseph M Farley 2in Alabama was warming up at 4% early May 10, after being taken offline onApril 11 for a refueling outage. FirstEnergy Corp.'s Davis-Besse in Ohio was at 35% early May 10after being idled on March 26 for planned seasonal work. 's nuclear plant inMissouri was pegged at 9% early May 10. The reactor was shut on April 3 formaintenance work.

In addition, EnergyNorthwest's Columbia GeneratingStation in Washington returned to 100% power early May 10, risingfrom 87% on May 9.
