TVA picks route for planned transmission line in Mississippi

The TennesseeValley Authority has identified the preferred route for a plannedtransmission line from Oxford, Miss., to Coffeeville, Miss.

The proposed transmission line is intended to help meet growingdemand in the Grenada and Resolute areas and improve power quality in theOxford area, according to a TVA statement.

For the preferred route, TVA plans to use an existing rightof way for the first 11-mile portion from Oxford to Water Valley, Miss., andpurchase easements for about 6 miles of new right of way around the city ofWater Valley, and another 10 miles beginning south of Water Valley to theCoffeeville 161-kV switching station.

The utility expects to begin surveys in fall 2016 and startacquiring easements in fall 2018.
