Chile is expected to receive investments of about US$65 billion, or a third more than previously expected, in its mining sector in the next 10 years, Reuters reported Aug. 7, citing Chile's Mining Minister Aurora Williams.
More than 90% of the investments will be made in copper projects, with the lithium sector also expected to get a boost.
The big projects include KGHM Polska Miedz SA's Sierra Gorda and a joint venture between state miner Codelco and Freeport-McMoRan Inc., the El Abra mill.
