A court in Brazil ordered Cia. Siderúrgica Nacional-owned Minérios Nacional to take emergency measures in order to guarantee the stability of two tailings dams at the Fernandinho iron ore mining complex, Metal Bulletin reported March 20.
The company was directed to conduct a safety inspection at the mining facility in the country's Minas Gerais state. However, the move is not expected to affect the mine's output, which is currently about 18,000 tonnes of iron ore per month, the company noted.
