Veto maintains Alaska's restriction on insurers' use of credit histories

Alaska Gov. Bill Walker rebuffed a legislative attempt toallow insurers to use enrollees' credit histories when considering renewals forcar or homeowners policies, Alaska Public Media reported.

Walker vetoed a bill proposing to lift the restriction, saying it would hurt low-income consumers as well as people who had gonejobless for a time or had been the victims of identity theft, the news outletreported July 21.
