Private equity firm Abry Partners to take over Screenvision Media

ABRY Partners LLC, a media-focused private equity firm, is buying a controlling stake in Screenvision Media, a cinema advertising company.

Screenvision's current owners, Shamrock Capital Advisors LLC and AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc., will retain minority stakes in the ad company after the deal closing, which is expected this summer. AMC Entertainment said it expects to receive about $45 million in cash from the deal.

While Abry Partners did not disclose how much it paid for the stake, sources with knowledge of the deal told AdWeek that the total price was $380 million. Shamrock Capital paid $160 million to acquire a majority stake in Screenvision in 2010. AMC acquired its interest in Screenvision through its purchase of Carmike Cinemas Inc. in December 2016.

Screenvision provides on-screen advertising, in-lobby promotions and integrated marketing programs in movie theaters.
