Canada-based Boralex Inc. and U.K.-based Infinergy Ltd. entered a 50-50 joint venture to develop a 325-MW pipeline of onshore wind projects primarily in Scotland.
The joint venture comprises a pipeline of 10 wind projects varying from 6 MW to 80 MW and would allow Boralex to purchase or resell the projects over the coming years, according to an Oct. 17 release.
The development phase of the projects calls for an investment of C$10.9 million until the end of 2019, including C$9.1 million from Boralex. Infinergy will act as the principal developer of the projects, which are at various stages of development.
Boralex is already developing nearly 70 MW of other wind projects in Scotland and expects the transaction to help expand its future footprint.
K&L Gates LLP acted as legal adviser for Boralex. Pinsent Masons LLP acted as legal adviser and JLL Ltd. as financial advisers for Infinergy.
