Westfield moves annual general meeting to same date as Unibail merger vote

Westfield Corp. Ltd.'s annual general meeting will be held May 24 instead of the initially planned April 11.

Security holders of the company, Westfield America Trust and WFD Trust will also vote on Unibail-Rodamco SE's US$15.68 billion merger proposal on the same day.

The Australia-listed retail giant noted that the date of the meeting could change depending on the finalization of European and Australian authorities' review of the merger deal. Westfield added that it has received in-principle approval from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission for its application for relief to hold the annual general meeting on or before June 30.

Since the deal's signing, the merging parties have maintained confidence in the merger, which valued the Australian target at A$10.01 per share in December 2017.
