T-Mobile, NBC's KXAS-TV ink deal to accelerate 600 MHz spectrum repacking

T-Mobile US Inc. struck a deal with NBCUniversal Media LLC-owned station NBC 5 / KXAS-TV to accelerate the repacking of the station's 600 MHz spectrum in North Texas and surrounding areas.

The station serving the Dallas/Fort-Worth area will move to its new frequency in late May, more than a year earlier than the Federal Communications Commission deadline of June 21, 2019, the company said March 14.

The agreement allows NBC 5 to expand its coverage area by adopting its new frequency, while letting the U.S. carrier extend its LTE coverage and capacity.

NBCU is owned by Comcast Corp.
