FortisBC granted interim rate hike

The British Columbia Utilities Commission approved an interim electric rate increase for FortisBC Inc. as of Jan. 1, 2017, to support investments in its electrical infrastructure.

Rates will increase by C$3.65 per month, or 2.76%, for the average residential electricity customer, the Fortis Inc. subsidiary said Dec. 7.

The rate is subject to change based on a further regulatory review in 2017.
