Alpha Microelectronics Q1 loss widens YOY

Alpha Microelectronics Corp. said its normalized net income for the first quarter amounted to a loss of 18 Taiwan cents per share, compared with a loss of 6 cents per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of NT$8.4 million, compared with a loss of NT$2.5 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to negative 7.4% from negative 2.1% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue fell 6.0% year over year to NT$113.1 million from NT$120.3 million, and total operating expenses increased year over year to NT$126.2 million from NT$124.5 million.

Reported net income totaled a loss of NT$13.7 million, or a loss of 30 cents per share, compared to a loss of NT$4.6 million, or a loss of 10 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
