NRG gets FERC nod to sell 2 gas-fired plants in Illinois to LS Power

NRG EnergyInc. on July 8 received FERC approval to two of its gas-fired power plantsto an LS Power Groupaffiliate.

NRG filed an application on May 18 asking FERC to allow RAGeneration to acquire the roughly 297-MW Rockford I and the approximately 153-MW natural gas-firedprojects in Winnebago County, Ill. According to SNL Energy data, the plantsentered service in 2000 and 2002, respectively.

RA Generation is also paying $365 million to acquire NRG unit 's power station, an 878-MWgas-fired facility in DuPage County, Ill. (EC16-121)

In September 2015, NRG announced a corporate restructuringand debt reduction planthat involves $500 million of nonstrategic asset sales.
