Non-Standard Finance ups dividend despite higher H1 loss

Non-Standard Finance PLC's board declared a dividend of 0.7 pence per share for the first half, up from 0.6 pence per share in the same period in 2018.

The dividend will be payable Oct. 17 to shareholders on the register Sept. 20.

The British specialty lender reported a loss attributable to owners of the parent of £23.2 million for the first half, up from £2.1 million a year ago. Loss per share increased year over year to 7.44 pence from 0.66 pence.

The company noted that it incurred exceptional costs totaling £25.3 million for the period, including VAT, with £12.7 million of the amount related to fees and other costs associated with its botched offer to acquire Provident Financial PLC.
