Lux Capital Management launched two new funds in a bid to invest in people whose inventions the venture capital firm expects will further shrink the gap between science fiction and reality.

The funds are $500 million early-stage fund and $550 million opportunity fund focused on growth-stage investments.

Lux is now actively managing more than $2.4 billion with a cumulative $1 billion in fresh capital.
