Report: Hulu cuts price of entry level tier for new subs

HuluLLC reduced the price of its entry level, ad-supported tier to$5.99 a month from $7.99 a month for new subscribers, TV Predictions reportedOct. 1.

The price of the entry level tier will return to $7.99 a monthafter a period of one year, according to the report. The move is expected tohelp the video service better compete with Netflix Inc. and Amazon.com Inc.

Netflix's basic streaming tier costs $9.99 a month, whileAmazon.com's stand-alone streaming service costs $8.99 a month, and is freewith the annual $99 Prime membership.
