Netflix: No tax deals for Canadian investment

Netflix Inc. said it did not receive any tax deals to set up a production company in Canada.

The streaming company said the investment was made under the Investment Canada Act. Netflix said it did not receive any special treatment and added that the reason it is not subject to traditional broadcast media regulations is because it is an online service and not a broadcaster.

In September, Netflix agreed to set up a production company in Canada and invest C$500 million to create original content in the country over five years.
