Short interest rises in Advisory Board

Ares Capital Corp. posted the greatest decline in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered financial services companies between Dec. 30, 2016, and Jan. 13.

The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding declined 1,065 basis points to 2.44% as of Jan. 13.

Advisory Board Co. had the largest jump in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered financial services companies. The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding climbed 272 basis points to 8.42% as of Jan. 13.

GATX Corp. topped the list of most shorted financial services companies during the period. The company saw short interest grow 65 basis points to 31.03% of shares outstanding.
