MicrosoftCorp. will not be able to meet the goal of 1 billion monthly active Windows 10 devices byJune 2018, The Wall Street Journal reportedJuly 15, citing a company statement.
While the software giant said it was pleased with theprogress, it reportedly noted that it needs more time to reach that goalbecause of the "focusing of phone hardware business." Microsoft did notset a new deadline for the target, according to the report.
Windows 10 is currently running on more than 350 millionactive devices, the company disclosed.
In May, Microsoft inked a deal to sell its entry-level feature phone assets to HonHai/Foxconn Technology Group subsidiary FIH Mobile Ltd. and HMD Global Oy for$350 million. Microsoft also announced plans to cut up to 1,850 jobs in a bid tostreamline its smartphone hardware business.
