Citibank del Perú CEO named as new head of Chile's banking regulator

Chile's President Sebastián Piñera and Finance Minister Felipe Larraín have appointed Mario Farren Risopatrón as the new head of the country's banking superintendency SBIF, effective May 14.

Farren will replace Eric Parrado, whose resignation is effective May 13. Parrado has led the SBIF since March 2014.

Since January 2016, Farren served as president and general manager of Citibank del Perú SA, in which he also supervised Citibank NA Sucursal Ecuador and Citicorp Chile. Aside from his stint at Citibank, Farren also held positions at Banco de Chile and Banco Nacional de México SA Integrante del Grupo Financiero Banamex.
