Chinese auto-parts maker BYD Co. Ltd. is halting production at an electric bus factory in China through May, the Nikkei Asian Review reported March 13, citing a company statement.
The EV factory in Guangzhou, named Guangzhou GAC BYD New Energy Bus, is owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc.-backed BYD and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. Ltd., according to the report.
According to Nikkei, production workers and employees at the quality unit of the factory will be placed on leave during the halt.
The halt will not have an impact on BYD's sales or business during 2019. The Chinese government reduced electric vehicle subsidies by up to 50% earlier this year, according to the news outlet.
