The European Union is ready to resume talks with Thailand to strike a free trade agreement, in the wake of political developments following the elections in March 2019, the Council of the European Union said.
The bloc is also eyeing a Partnership and Co-operation Agreement with Thailand, covering issues such as human rights, fundamental freedoms and democratic pluralism.
Pro-military party Palang Pracharat formed the government earlier this year, with Prayuth Chan-Ocha, who led a coup that overthrew Thailand's last elected government in 2014, remaining in power.
The EU suspended talks with the Southeast Asian country in 2014 following the coup, Reuters reported.
