IAMGOLD Corp. estimated an NI 43-101-compliant initial mineral resource for the Gossey satellite deposit, located about 15 kilometers northwest of its Essakane operation in Burkina Faso.
The deposit hosts an indicated resource of 10.5 million tonnes at 0.87 g/t gold containing 291,000 ounces, and an inferred resource of 2.9 million tonnes at 0.91 g/t gold containing 85,000 ounces.
According to the Dec. 12 release, over 70% of the delineated resources are contained within shallow, soft, saprolite and transition hosted mineralization.
The company is conducting regional exploration on its land holdings, including the over 20-kilometer Gossey-Korizena trend, to look for additional satellite deposits for its Essakane operation.
