Kosmos Energy's Gladden Deep well in Gulf of Mexico strikes oil

Dallas-based Kosmos Energy Ltd. said June 4 that it found oil at the Gladden Deep well in the Gulf of Mexico, with initial tests showing that the recoverable resource is expected to be in line with the pre-drill gross estimate of 7 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Gladden Deep is the first of a four-well infrastructure-led exploration program in the Gulf of Mexico and would be brought online through the existing Gladden pipeline to the Medusa spar in the fourth quarter.

Kosmos plans to drill the Moneypenny prospect in the third quarter and the Oldfield and Resolution prospects in the fourth quarter. The three prospects are estimated to bring in around 100 million boe net to Kosmos.

Kosmos holds a 20% working interest in Gladden Deep.
