Report: Turkish prime minister nominates central bank governor

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu nominated MuratÇetinkaya to serve as governor of Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, with thenomination to be presented for approval at an April 11 cabinet meeting, Reutersreported the same day, citing "a government official and an economyofficial."

The tenure of current Governor Erdem Basçi ends April 19,Reuters noted.

Davutoglu discussed the decision with Turkish President RecepTayyip Erdogan prior to the nomination, according to the sources. Çetinkaya hasserved as a deputy governor at the Turkish central bank since June 2012 and hasa background in Islamic banking, Reuters noted.
