Japan tertiary industry activity rises in August

Japan's seasonally adjusted tertiary industry activity index rose 0.5% month over month in August to 106.0 after inching up 0.1% in July, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

On an annual basis, the original index climbed 1.3% to 105.6.

Among industries, living and amusement-related services posted the largest monthly increase of 4.1% in August, while electricity, gas, heat supply and water saw the biggest monthly decline of 2.7%.
