Channel 5(UK) is preparing an August debut for a free-to-air channelinspired by its on-demand catch-up platform My5, Broadcast reported July 22.
The new channel will reportedly replace Channel 5+24, whichshowed previous-day prime-time programs from the Britishnetwork. It will be similar to Channel 4 (UK)'s 4seven network and will launch onFreeview, Freesat and pay TV platforms.
The ViacomInc.-owned broadcaster is planning to use the upcoming channel to takeadvantage of the popularity of several shows, as well as broadcast programboxsets prior to a new series launch, according to the report.
