Ford Motor Co. is recalling select Explorer SUVs that could have sharp seat frames, the automaker said Sept. 13.
The recall affects 338,332 vehicles with power seats that might have an improperly coined seat-frame edge, posing a risk to customers who reach between the front seat and the center console, Ford said in a news release.
The automaker said it is aware of 31 reports of hand injuries related to this issue.
The recall includes 311,907 Explorers in the U.S., 23,380 in Canada and 3,045 in Mexico. They were all built at the company's Chicago plant Feb. 13, 2016-Oct. 25, 2017.
Dealers will use flocked tape to cover the exposed edge and tab on the inboard side of the frame, Ford said.
