Fortis completes acquisition of majority interest in BC storage facility

on April 4 said it has completedits acquisition of Aitken Creek Gas Storage ULC, which owns 93.8% of the largestnatural gas storage facilityin British Columbia, from ChevronCanada Properties Ltd.

The Aitken Creekstorage site, in the Montney Shale production region, has a total working gas capacityof 77 Bcf and is the only underground storage facility in the region.Aitken Creek Gas Storage also owns 100% of the North Aitken Creek gas storage site,which affords Fortis options for future expansion.

"The AitkenCreek gas storage facility is uniquely positioned to benefit from future developmentof British Columbia's natural gas resources to serve both domestic markets and LNGexports," said Barry Perry, president and CEO of Fortis.

The remainingshare in the storage facility is owned by BPCanada Energy Co.
