Rovi Corp.took Comcast Corp. tocourt over claims of alleged patent infringement.
In a lawsuit filed in the Eastern District of Texas,Marshall division, Rovi claimed infringement by Comcast, together with itsset-top box suppliers, of 14 U.S. patents covering features that help Comcastimplement remote recording, AnyRoom DVR and X1 search, according to an April 1news release.
Rovi is seeking an injunction barring continued infringementand damages to compensate it for the harm inflicted by that allegedinfringement.
"While we are disappointed that Comcast remainsunlicensed, we believe it needs a license to offer many of its personalizeddiscovery features to its customers," Tom Carson, Rovi president and CEO,said, adding that it filed the suit after numerous attempts at talks.
