Horace Mann Educators Corp. estimates weather-related catastrophe losses of $31 million to $34million, before tax, for the three months ended Sept. 30.

The estimate would represent 18 to 20 percentage points on the company's estimated third-quarter combined ratio, or about 59 cents to 64 cents per share after tax. Significant events included Hurricane Florence in the Carolinas, a major hailstorm in Colorado and a California wildfire.
