PIMCO launches 1st climate change-dedicated fund

Pacific Investment Management Co. LLC launched its first fund dedicated to investments combating climate change.

The PIMCO Climate Bond Fund will invest in labeled and unlabeled green bonds, as well as bonds from issuers that the investment management firm deems to demonstrate "innovative approaches" to environmental sustainability.

Scott Mather, Jelle Brons, Ketish Pothalingam and Samuel Mary will manage the fund. Mather is a managing director and chief investment officer of U.S. core strategies, while Brons and Pothalingam are executive vice presidents and portfolio managers, and Mary is a vice president and portfolio manager.
