Hospitality Properties Trust disclosed in its second-quarter earnings release that it plans to rebrand or sell its 22 hotels currently managed by hotel franchising company Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in light of the planned termination of their partnership.
Hospitality Properties Trust leases 48 vacation units in one of the hotels to a unit of Wyndham Destinations Inc. for an annual minimum rent of $1.5 million. The REIT said it had received payment for the contractual rent due under the lease, for which Wyndham Destinations provides unlimited guaranty, during the second quarter.
Previously, Wyndham Hotels said it is terminating its hotel management contracts with Hospitality Properties Trust and fellow hotel real estate investment trust RLJ Lodging Trust.
