Former Barclays CEO Jenkins joins board of bitcoin start-up

Former Barclays Plc CEO Antony Jenkins joined the board of directors of London-based bitcoin start-up Blockchain, the company said Dec. 12.

Jenkins will serve as an independent board director alongside former Skype COO Michael Jackson.

The company, named for the technology behind bitcoin, raised $30 million from investors in 2014, The Wall Street Journal noted the same day. It offers software used by other bitcoin firms like Coinbase Inc., as well as its own technology to allow consumers to buy and sell digital money.
