Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Oct. 4 was 19 euro cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 26 cents per share.
EPS increased 12.6% year over year from 17 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was €148.8 million, a gain from €143.1 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin dropped to 1.8% from 1.9% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 13.0% on an annual basis to €8.44 billion from €7.47 billion, and total operating expenses climbed 13.3% on an annual basis to €8.16 billion from €7.20 billion.
Reported net income rose 6.8% on an annual basis to €189.0 million, or 24 cents per share, from €177.0 million, or 21 cents per share.
